Peldon Rose runs for Wimbledon Guild

Benjamin Murray, from local business Peldon Rose, ran the London Marathon 2018 for Wimbledon Guild because they are a great Wimbledon charity.

Benjamin’s story:

In 2018, I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Peldon Rose to raise money for The Wimbledon Guild. Peldon Rose are their neighbours and we want to help them help local people lead a better life by tackling poverty, supporting ageing and encouraging mental well-being.

Three of my buddies from Peldon Rose will also run the London Marathon, supporting other charities; Goncalo Pinto, Mike Trim, and Tomas De Espana Menarguez.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Jiva Health celebrates 10th anniversary

A whole 10 years

Jiva Health celebrates 10 years of bringing calmness and serenity to visitors of their Wimbledon studio. Co-founders Tish and Lisa look back at where the journey began.

Tish, “10 years ago (19 April) not such as smiley Lisa sat on a dormitory bed in a buddhist sanctuary in Findhorn Bay, Scotland. Her 30th Birthday and she’d unnecessarily been there on her own most of the day. I waltzed in thinking ‘phew a like minded person’ for many reasons as we embarked on a pretty interesting yoga teacher training in Sivananda yoga that changed our lives. As we started to truly let go of the hustle and bustle of daily life we vowed that one day we would have our own studio in busy London to brighten people’s lives and provide a calm sanctuary.”

“Since then there’s been a few more birthdays, lots of anti-ageing inversions, a few babies, some tears, a whole heap of laughter and more and more Yoga! Here’s to the next 10 years…..”

Lisa, “We work hard to be a studio that really supports you on your journey to good health. We now have 45 classes a week between Earlsfield and Wimbledon and weekly workshops. Our aim is always to make healthy living easy for you to achieve. And to bring you the amazingly ancient techniques and the very latest for optimum health.”

YMCA St Paul’s Group forms with merger of local associations

YMCA London South West mergers into YMCA St Paul’s Group

YMCA London South West is forming a large and local association called YMCA St Paul’s Group that will work across London and the metropolitan area. The move follows merging with YMCA East London in 2017, YMCA Slough in early 2018 and YMCA West London on 1 April 2018.

As a bigger, stronger organisation, YMCA St Paul’s Group aims to engage more effectively with young and vulnerable people in local communities. It will collectively house over 500 people on a daily basis, with plans for expansion. Richard James, YMCA St Paul’s Group Chief Executive says:

“The newly formed YMCA St Paul’s Group will be able to build on strong foundations and further diversify and expand its work in the future, so that local young people will thrive and the wider community flourish. We chose the name because St Paul is the patron Saint of London, St Paul’s Churchyard is where the YMCA was founded in 1855 and it was to St Paul’s we walked from East, West, South and South West London in June 2017 on Founder’s Day, as a sign of our commitment to each other and the work of YMCA.”

The Pod Bar celebrates six years in Wimbledon

The Pod Bar on The Broadway is celebrating six years in Wimbledon

Set in New Wimbledon Theatre’s historic Turkish Baths, The Pod Bar was opened by Ian Brebner in 2012. Ian’s vision was for a venue that offered a fun night out with dancing and a variety of music from resident DJs. Over the years, The Pod Bar has firmly established itself as a popular late night venue and is renowned for great cocktails, having won Best Cocktail Venue in Time & Leisure’s Food & Drink Awards 2017.

The Pod Bar is thrilled to be a successful, independent Wimbledon venue and to have such great support from people living and working in the local area.

Remember, if you have a Love Wimbledon Privilege Card, you can enjoy exclusive 2-for-1 cocktails and 20% off Prosecco at The Pod Bar.
