Deliveroo Progress Update May 2019

We are now in regular and good communication with Deliveroo Head Office and they are responding well to our concerns about the accumulation of bikes in particular areas and the blocking of parking bays. Deliveroo managers have visited site and are sending messages to the riders and will continue this approach over the next couple of months. We have also been advised if there are instances on anti-social behaviour these can be reported on support@deliveroo.co.uk with as much detail as possible so that they can identify the riders and take appropriate action.

Love Wimbledon will continue to work with Deliveroo to manage this situation for the benefit of the businesses and the functioning of the town.

Designated Food Delivery Bike Areas in Wimbledon

With the increase of food delivery bikes in Wimbledon you will be aware of the number of bikes blocking the parking bays outside the station and the increase of bikes generally in the town. Love Wimbledon BID has been lobbying hard to find a solution for over 18 months, (food delivery bike survey with local businesses) and finally Deliveroo have responded to our pressure. Working in partnership with them a number of solutions will be implemented to ease this pressure whilst still ensuring our businesses continue to benefit from this trade. We will keep you updated on our  implementation plans.

Food Delivery Bike Survey

Over the past year or so we have received many complaints from businesses and pedestrians about the proliferation of food delivery bikes gathering in particular locations. Individually the bikes are not a particular issue but collectively they are taking up much needed parking bays and can be intimidating. We realise the bikes are collecting from our businesses and are providing a service to locals and it is important that we don’t undermine this.

Love Wimbledon has been working behind the scenes with Merton Council, Deliveroo and other providers along with the police to find a suitable solution that works for us all. We are in the process of surveying the businesses that use these bikes with a view to identifying a couple of designated areas for the bikes to wait until their next order arrives.

If you are a Wimbledon town centre business who uses food delivery bikes, please send your answers to the below questions to info@lovewimbledon.org  by Monday 4 March.
