Opportunities for businesses at Wimbledon Guild Village Fair

Wimbledon Guild, the social welfare charity behind the hugely successful Wimbledon Guild Village Fair which attracts more than 35,000 visitors each year, is inviting local businesses to get involved with their biggest summer fundraiser.

The Wimbledon BID charity would like to attract new partners to support the event which this year takes place on Wimbledon Common on Saturday June 17. The Wimbledon Guild Village Fair is one of South London’s largest free outdoor events, growing each year to attract hundreds of local businesses and is a must-go-to event for local families.

And with local volunteers at the heart of making the Wimbledon Guild Village Fair the success it is, businesses are also being encouraged to consider volunteering, whether as a team or as individuals.

Chief Executive Wendy Pridmore explained that the charity provides practical, emotional and social support for people in crisis throughout the London Borough of Merton, explained: “We have a number of opportunities for businesses to get involved with the Wimbledon Guild Village Fair this year. The event plays a significant role in our community and grows each year making it a fabulous summer social event for local families and businesses.

“We’d love to hear from anyone who might be interested in becoming part of our fair to get in touch with us. Businesses can offer support or become involved in so many different ways, and we can tailor involvement to each company, from advertising in our programme to match funding or corporate sponsorship of an event or activity.

“And of course we would welcome corporate volunteers, who can help out with various activities and roles on 17 June, to make this a special occasion for everyone.”

Businesses interested in getting involved with this year’s Village Fair should contact Barbara Ruivo at Wimbledon Guild on by emailing bruivo@wimbledonguild.co.uk or calling 020 8739 2920.

This year’s event once again has something for everyone. Following its huge success last year, the thrilling Knights of Middle England medieval jousting tournament returns to the Main Arena for the second successive year. In addition there will be a plethora of activities for everyone to enjoy, from the children’s and adventure villages, packed with attractions such as bouncy castles, a climbing wall and petting farm, to a full programme of music and other events.

There will be two fantastic food villages offering mouth-watering traditional British and international cuisine and the Farmers’ Market will feature hand-selected products such as meats and cheeses from the best local producers around.

The extensive shopping village will have more than 200 stalls featuring treasures ranging from hand-crafted jewellery and designer clothing to colourful hats, homewares and plants. Visitors also have the chance to win top prizes in the Grand Raffle.

This fun-filled free-to-enter day for all ages raises funds in aid of the Wimbledon Guild. The social welfare charity helps local people lead a better life by tackling poverty, supporting ageing and encouraging mental wellbeing.

Wendy added: “Making the Wimbledon Guild Village Fair the huge success it has become is a pleasure but we do rely on the local community to help us make it what it is. Whether it is from supporting our fundraising activities to volunteering and helping on the day, the Village Fair is for everyone so we’re asking local businesses to consider joining in the fun with us this summer.”
