Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Events
Free regular events at Wimbledon Library for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- SEND Stay and Play Toy Time: 8:45am – 9:30am,
1st Saturday of each month.
For children aged 3+
Book via Eventbrite Stay and Play sessions are a chance for children with special educational needs and disabilities to be able to play with a wide selection of SEND toys, switches and equipment, as well as all of the other sensory equipment in the children’s library.
NB: Stay & Play toys can be borrowed from the library on a three-week loan, however, borrowers will need to have registered for a SEND Library Card. This can be done in advance in branch.
- SEND Story Time: 9am – 9.30am,
3rd Saturday of each month.
For children aged 4+
Book via Eventbrite Bag Books are aimed at those who cannot benefit from mainstream books. They can be enjoyed without being understood as they are told interactively through voice and emotion rather than words and pictures. They are designed for those with multiple learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. They are also hugely beneficial to those with visual and hearing impairments.
On the day, please arrive promptly at 8.55am at the side entrance on Compton Road where a Wimbledon Library staff member will greet you.
