Celebrate and explore Caribbean food and dance in Britain from the 1950s to 1990s.

Join Wimbledon Library in our celebration of African and Caribbean culture in Britain from the 1950s to 1990s. The menu includes Caribbean canapés including Ackee & Saltfish topped Dumplings, Callaloo topped Dumplings, Jerk Chicken Drumsticks, Vegetable Fritters, Mini Cocktail Beef Patties, Bun & Cheese. During the workshops we will share stories of our lived experiences, dine on Caribbean cuisine and later dance to popular 1950’s Calypso & Minto, 1960’s Ska & Rocksteady, 1970’s Reggae & Lovers Rock,1980’s Hip-Hop& Dancehall, 1990’s Garage & Jungle. These events will be photographed and recorded to help us create our forthcoming production Dorothee in the 20th Century: Saturday Soup. There are only 30 places on the event.
