Creating a greener and more sustainable town centre is one of the three strategic priorities we outlined to you in our 5-year business plan. Following on from several green interventions in the public realm that we continue to manage to enhance the town centre’s look and feel, in September 2023 we saw a real step forward in our efforts with our business community, including our “Succeeding In Sustainability” masterclass, Wimbledon Sustainable Fashion weekend with Go Inspire, and our first dedicated Sustainable Market, bringing pre-loved fashion and new stallholders to our regular programme of market activities. We’ve loved hearing about the many ways our businesses have embraced sustainability, however big or small.

We invited businesses to a masterclass in “Succeeding In Sustainability’ as part of our Business Masterclass series in partnership with Merton Chamber of Commerce. Coty’s Rooftop Farm
We interviewed multinational beauty company, Coty’s in their headquarters in Wimbledon. We learnt how they embedded sustainability practices across their business by engaging employees in the organisation to create sustainable solutions that benefit and motivate everyone who works there. First Mile’s Hair Recycling Services
We introduced our beauty businesses to hair recycling services. Nearly a quarter of our businesses are signed up to the B Corp accredited waste provider First Mile through the Love Wimbledon group buying services. Their services cover cardboard, coffee grounds, glass, food, WEEE and toner recycling and now hair recycling through the Recycle My Salon partnership. They provided all the customers with carbon reporting to help them reach their sustainability goals. Sign up for these services here.
