Christmas in Wimbledon is in full swing, and the festive cheer is unmistakable. With footfall in the town centre up 6% year-on-year, it’s clear that Love Wimbledon’s efforts to create a vibrant and inviting destination for visitors are paying off.
A centrepiece of the festivities is our stunning 25ft Christmas Tree, generously sponsored by Bombay Delight. Located outside Wimbledon Station, the tree has become a sparkling backdrop for seasonal photos, adding a touch of magic for commuters and shoppers alike.
Winterfest: Community Spirit in Action
Despite the unexpected challenges brought on by Storm Bert, Winterfest 2024 proved to be a resounding success. In partnership with Wimbledon Quarter, the annual event brought multigenerational families together for a day filled with festive activities, live performances, and community fun.
While high winds forced some adjustments—including relocating the community stage indoors—we’re glad that we managed to preserve the festive atmosphere. A big thank you to Wimbledon Quarter for the flexibility and swiftly accommodating local businesses and the community.
Highlights included:
- Local performances: From community choirs to dance groups, the entertainment fostered a joyful atmosphere
- Interactive activities: Families enjoyed festive photo spots, children’s crafts, and a bustling ice-skating rink
- Community resilience: Even with last-minute changes, the event attracted people to our town centre to enjoy the festivities, showcasing the strong community spirit in Wimbledon
This year’s Winterfest showcased the flexibility and dedication of our team and partners. Pulling together such a large-scale event—despite significant weather challenges—demonstrates the power of collaboration and our commitment to delivering value for local businesses.
Christmas in Wimbledon: More to Come
Winterfest is just one of the many ways we’re driving footfall and supporting the local economy this season. With festive menus, theatre performances, and three more weekends of our Christmas Market on The Piazza until December 22nd, there’s plenty to attract shoppers and diners to Wimbledon. Our Guide to Christmas in Wimbledon, available in local high street businesses and Wimbledon Station, provides an easy way to discover all the seasonal offerings.
We’ve also been delighted to see so many local businesses embracing the festive spirit. From holiday-themed promotions to beautifully decorated shopfronts, the town centre is alive with seasonal cheer.
Looking Ahead
As 2024 draws to a close, we’d like to extend our gratitude to the businesses, partners, and community members. Together, we’re creating a vibrant and thriving town centre that continues to attract visitors year after year.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to working with you in 2025 to build on this year’s success.
