As Londoners recover from too much food and drink over Christmas and our New Year’s resolutions lead us back to the gym again, Wimbledonians are asking themselves: is Wimbledon now the fittest town centre in the UK?
As the nation saw a moderate 4% growth* in the gym and fitness industry across 2023, Wimbledon saw the number of new gym and fitness openings double over the same time period.

We now have a gym to suit most lifestyles in Wimbledon Town Centre, together with new experiential fitness businesses such as bouldering and virtual golf – the growth in venues and footfall we have seen is phenomenal. We recently had luxury health and fitness provider Third Space open in the newly refurbished Wimbledon Quarter and understand they have had more sign ups than for any other opening. This is why we are affectionately known as Gymbledon.
So, what does Wimbledon have to offer? The gyms and fitness centres range from community-based charity spaces to luxury boutique gyms.
