If you own and run a business in Wimbledon town centre, Love Wimbledon is working for you every day, often in ways you can see on the street, but sometimes in ways that aren’t as visible.
As the town centre’s Business Improvement District (BID), Love Wimbledon is funded by and accountable to the businesses within the BID area. Our mission is clear: to make Wimbledon the best place possible to work, visit, shop, invest and enjoy, and to help the businesses at the heart of the town’s economy succeed.
Over the past five years, that work has helped Wimbledon remain resilient and competitive during a period of significant change and uncertainty for high streets across the UK. With a range of independent businesses and national retailers across many sectors taking pride of place in Wimbledon, we’re extremely proud of how diverse, successful and together we are as a business community.
Building on these foundations and continuing the positive momentum we’ve all built is imperative in continuing to deliver on our mission. Read below for more information on the initiatives we’ve deployed to help businesses in Wimbledon succeed and grow.
The businesses we help represent
Love Wimbledon BID represents more than 600 businesses in SW19, and our primary objective is to secure extra funding for businesses, with a stronger voice for the town centre’s business community at a local and regional level.
If you know us for anything, it’s probably the visible side of our work, the events, the tennis screenings, the summer planting. But much of what we do is practical, commercial support that happens away from the crowds. The opportunities we create for businesses to trade, promote and save money, and the funding, training and connections we secure on your behalf.
Getting Wimbledon seen
Without visibility, attracting investment, visitors and footfall is a challenge. That’s why our marketing campaigns are designed to drive awareness and promote the town centre throughout the calendar year. Love Wimbledon generates this through a multi-channel approach of seasonal campaigns, lamppost banners, website updates, engaging social content and our business news updates. If you’re opening a new store, launching a menu or simply want more people through the door, our promotion is designed to put your business in front of residents, workers and visitors across SW19 and beyond.
Opportunities for businesses
One of the most direct ways Love Wimbledon helps businesses grow is by creating opportunities to trade and reach new customers in the town centre.
Trade at our markets
The Love Wimbledon Market runs on The Piazza on the first weekend of every month from March to November, alongside a carefully curated twelve-day Christmas Market in the festive period. Both celebrate the creativity and diversity of local independent makers, and our markets carry an 81% consumer awareness rate. They’re single-use plastic free, we prioritise traders with sustainable and ethical practices, and stall packages include a gazebo, table and street trading licence, making them a genuinely low-risk way for start-ups, artisans and local businesses to test a town centre audience and grow their customer base from there.
Hire The Piazza
Situated in the heart of the town centre as the entrance to a busy network of leisure, retail and café brands, The Piazza is an ideal outdoor space for experiential marketing and promotion. Whether you’re a leading brand, a charity or a community group, it’s a social, engaging space for your next activation, with highly competitive rates and discounts for BID businesses, charities and non-profits.
Sponsorship
For businesses looking to build brand awareness with an engaged local audience, our seasonal sponsorship packages span activations across the town centre and targeted print distribution in high-value footfall areas. Whatever your objective, there are opportunities in partnering, sponsoring or participating in our activities.
Forging new business connections
A business community works best when its businesses know each other. Love Wimbledon hosts a range of themed networking events throughout the year, designed to help you make local connections and discover venues across the town centre. We also run property forums that bring together businesses, property owners and agents, and we’re always up to date with availability across the town centre, so if you’re looking for space to grow into, speaking to us is a sensible first call.
SEEDL is our online learning platform, where levy-paying businesses and their employees get unlimited access to over 200 live, virtual and on-demand courses. That includes training on Martyn’s Law, mental wellness and Microsoft skills, alongside short, focused sessions designed for busy professionals. For a team of any size, it provides a valuable way to upskill your people at no cost to your business.
Greener business support that saves businesses money
Sustainability is a core pillar in our 2027-2032 Business Plan, it comes with practical, funded support that helps your business grow in a way that’s built to last.
In 2022, Love Wimbledon secured GLA funding for the Mayor of London’s Business Climate Challenge, helping five Wimbledon businesses reduce their carbon emissions with energy audits, consultancy from WSP and Turner Townsend, and access to an energy management platform for tracking progress.
Support is open to everyone, whatever your starting point. Our ‘Succeeding in Sustainability’ masterclass and educational events help businesses make greener choices and cut energy bills, while the Refill Revolution lists local shops, pubs and restaurants that will fill water bottles, reducing plastic waste one refill at a time. We’re also building a list of partners and suppliers offering greener and reuse options, and we can point you in the right direction whatever your requirements.
Wimbledon success stories from local businesses
Some businesses have already seen the benefits first-hand of choosing to put down roots in Wimbledon. Since opening in 2022, Bombay Delight has become a popular local favourite for exceptional Indian food. Owner Ajay Chaurasia credits much of that success to the wider community, which he and his team care deeply about as Wimbledon residents themselves. Wimbledon Dental Wellness is a family-run practice that offers holistic, affordable and honest dentistry. Principal Dentist Pooja Pillay grew up just around the corner, and she has found the town’s vibrant, welcoming community and easy accessibility to be the ideal setting for the practice.
Those success stories are being repeated across the town centre. We’ve welcomed Wellface Clinic and Pizza Pilgrims in opening their doors to the people of Wimbledon. Peldon Rose and Nineteen Group have both expanded their workspace here following record growth, new arrivals are opening their doors throughout the year, and spaces such as 247 Wimbledon and Huddle are providing high-quality flexible workspace for the town’s growing office community.
We’re business-led and continue to improve
Everything we do at Love Wimbledon is shaped by the businesses we represent We actively encourage feedback, and you can directly influence which services we provide and which priorities we pursue. When we consulted the business community ahead of our 2027-2032 Business Plan, your top priorities : promoting and supporting businesses, increasing safety and security, improving places and spaces and attracting investment, became the plan’s organising aims.
That’s what a BID is: collective investment, collective decision-making and a collective voice for over 600 businesses. If you’re thinking of relocating to Wimbledon, or you’re already here and want to get more from your BID, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us at info@lovewimbledon.org or on 0208 619 2012, and we can put you in touch with property owners and agents, signpost the services that fit your business and help you get involved.
