Love Wimbledon works in partnership with award-winning recycling company, First Mile to offer all BID members a range of free and discounted waste and recycling services. First Mile currently looks after 103 Love Wimbledon member businesses, providing:
- free quarterly collections of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
- an allocation of free mixed recycling and food recycling services every year
- discounts on all 30+ waste and recycling services, including general waste, confidential waste, textiles recycling, batteries recycling, coffee cup recycling, bulky waste collections and more
For the period 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026, member businesses saved a total of £62,837.25 (ex VAT) on waste and recycling services, an average of £610 ex VAT per business. This was achieved through a combination of your BID subsidised services and our Love Wimbledon member discounts. Member businesses also saved £7,833.68 (ex VAT) through the free WEEE collections.
This is a total saving amount of £70,670.93.
During this time, members also:
- recycled 328.86 tonnes of recyclable materials
- recycled 43.61 tonnes of food waste
- sent 350.76 tonnes of general waste to an energy-from-waste facility
- saved 504.54 tonnes of CO2 through recycling
- saved 2,247.13 trees through paper recycling
- produced 191,622 kWh of electricity through general waste
- and achieved an overall recycling rate of 51.5%
First Mile is now offering up to five BID members a FREE waste consultation and audit, designed to help businesses understand their current waste and identify simple opportunities to reduce it and to improve recycling.
