Sustainable September SW19 – More Businesses, Higher Footfall and a Positive Experience

Our fourth Sustainable September SW19 has been our biggest and most vibrant yet.

This year, more Wimbledon businesses than ever joined us in celebrating sustainability, the circular economy and everything that makes our town centre such a brilliant place to shop, visit and spend time. We were delighted to welcome support from big names, including Domestic & General, Gina Conway, Lush, Spire, The Body Shop and The Gym Group, alongside our inspirational charity shops and smaller businesses including Jiva Health and Wellface.

Working in collaboration with Wimbledon Quarter, Sustainable Discovery, Sustainable Merton and pop-up&, we brought four weekends of activity, experiences and events to SW19. From markets and kilo sales to repair workshops, fashion shows, sustainable art, health and beauty, there was something for everyone.

We were also thrilled to support the launch Royal Trinity Hospice’s preloved bridalwear collection. If you haven’t visited their boutique yet, it’s well worth a look. Sustainable wedding style has never looked so good – for men and women!

More people, more activity, more reasons to visit

We’re delighted to report that footfall increased across the month, both on The Broadway and within Wimbledon Quarter, seeing around 5% increase year on year taking it over 270,000/week. This is fantastic news for our local businesses and demonstrates the continued appeal of Wimbledon,  a busy, vibrant town centre that embraces the circular economy and sustainable initiatives.

Introducing Wimbledon’s first Wellness Weekend

We finished Sustainable September with something new: Wimbledon’s first-ever Wellness Weekend.

The weekend brought together beauty, food and culture, alongside inspirational talks, hands-on experiences, Korean culture and a carefully curated selection of brands. It was a wonderful opportunity to discover something different, learn, connect and experience a new side of sustainable wellbeing.

Sally Warren from Love Wimbledon commented:

“What a few weeks! We’re thrilled to see how popular the activities, experiences and markets have been. There really was something for everyone, and we’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather too. A huge thank you to all the businesses, partners, organisations and visitors who helped make Sustainable September SW19 such a success. We’re already looking forward to Sustainable September SW19 2027!”

Thank you to everyone who took part, visited, supported, organised and helped bring Sustainable September SW19 to life.

Here’s to a more sustainable, circular and vibrant Wimbledon!

Thank you as well to:
Royal Trinity Hospice, Oxfam, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, Rush Revive, Incredibusy, Re-runn, Made in Merton, Art4space, Hues By Abha, Asta Facepainter, Little Splash and Art-K.
