Wimbledon International Music Festival sponsorship opportunities

Corporate sponsors are warmly welcomed at the Wimbledon International Music Festival, which takes place from 11 – 26 November 2017.

Wimbledon International Music Festival is seeking to develop an on-going relationship with its sponsors securing sponsorship for 2-3 years in order to plan ahead and realise these opportunities. There are a number of ways to be involved as a Festival Sponsor, a Young People’s Series Sponsor, an Artist Sponsor, or an Event Sponsor.

Merton Arts Space secures funding for learning

The flexible, multipurpose performance and art venue in Wimbledon Library will use funding from Arts Council England to promote library services to 11-18 year olds in Merton.

Merton Arts Space, which opened in Wimbledon Library in 2016, and Mitcham Library have been awarded funding for youth literacy, arts and culture initiatives. Funding of £142,000 from Arts Council England will be used to promote the library services in Merton to 11-to-18-year-olds.

Artists will work with teenagers to develop a series of performances inspired by the theme “My Library”.

Arts Council England’s London area director, Joyce Wilson, said: “This project will inject a vital shot of energy into an area of outer London that will really feel the benefits.

“With our support, Merton Council will not only create cultural contact points for young people who may not have been able to access much art and culture before, but dedicated physical spaces that they can help shape and make their own.”

Merton Arts Space has become a flexible multipurpose library and performance area, with moveable bookcases, tables and chairs. The facility also includes professional standard lighting and sound equipment and has an audience capacity of 250 seated or 300 standing.

Upcoming events include Jah Wobble’s Invaders of the Heart performance on Saturday 1 July 2017. For more details please visit Merton Arts Space.

New Wimbledon Theatre revitalised with recent renovations

New Wimbeldon Theatre has always been a welcoming venue and the management team are always looking to enhance the patron experience.

On and off since August 2016 the in house team have been meticulously attending to the plasterwork and paint in the main foyer, installing new directional signage and carrying out refurbishment works to the foyer bar.  The foyer bar is the first area all patrons to the venue see and in May the works will be completed with a total rebuild of the main bar serving area.  The bar will be open post-show for patrons to continue their evening’s entertainment.

The Studio Theatre, accessed by a small door off The Broadway is undergoing a complete refurbishment.  New seating, carpets, paintwork, signage and a digital cinema with Dolby surround sound will present live broadcast theatre experiences from around the world, and be available for private hire experiences. The studio theatre bar will be overhauled in the summer to incorporate a new, intimate gallery space.

New Wimbledon Theatre currently hosts a Lunchtime Choir, and runs topical workshops throughout the year including the upcoming Shakespeare in a Day: Macbeth and Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoe Workshop during the Easter holidays.
