Apprentices are winners

It was an exciting start to the working week for three young Apprentices who were recognised at a special award ceremony held by Wimbledon based Capital Training Group (CTG) to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week ( 3-7 March 2014)

CTG’s Big Breakfast event on Monday 3 March welcomed over 50 guests from local businesses and stakeholder organisations including Merton Chamber of Commerce, Merton Council and the National Apprenticeship Service. CTG places apprentices with local employers and supports them throughout their apprenticeship.

Special guest Stephen Hammond MP for Wimbledon and Under Secretary of State for Transport outlined the government’s views on Apprenticeships and the benefits to the economy both locally and nationally. Mr Hammond then presented the awards to the three hard working apprentices who had all been nominated by their employers.

Apprentice of the Year 2014 was Emma Elliott from Home Instead.  The judges recognised that Emma has not only excelled in her role as Recruitment and Training Administrator, she has also thrown herself into the of care side of the business so she could understand what it feels like to give hands on care.

Highly Commended was Wallis Browne from Capital Engineering Personnel.  Wallis received her award for applying herself with enthusiasm, helping reduce collection time for debtors in her role in credit control and her keenness to undertake all aspects of the business.

The Special Merit Award went to Nisa Leach from Clear Insurance. The judges were impressed with Nisa’s contribution to a wide range of business initiatives, including coordinating entire projects that have been rolled out across the company’s other branches.

CTG helps employers to recruit apprentices by offering a unique bespoke vacancy matching service and also provides excellent pastoral support for apprentices, encouraging and enabling them to complete their training and sustain their employment.

Within the last year, together with the help of its consortium partners, Capital Training Group has been able to support and place over 225 young people into Apprenticeships across London.
