December Wraps Up Our 2018: CEO Update from Helen

With a bouncy snowman, a beautiful snowglobe and a skating Christmas pudding, we hope you enjoyed this years Winter Wonderland on Sunday. The weather was kind to us and with events at Elys and Centre Court too, the whole town celebrated with a great start to Christmas.

High Streets are still under enormous pressure but by bringing the streets to life with activities for all alongside performances from schools, dance groups, New Wimbledon Theatre and Polka, and our regular Christmas Market we continue to put Wimbledon on the map as a great place to make your shopping easy and your social life entertaining. We urge you to support your local town centre particularly throughout this season, reducing the impact of personal deliveries on congestion and air quality whilst helping our businesses to stay strong.

And when you are all ready for Christmas and your presents are all wrapped,  don’t forget to respond to the Wimbledon Masterplan consultation and the Tramlink consultation before January 6th 2019.

From all of us here at Love Wimbledon I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to working with you to ensure Wimbledon remains a great place in 2019.

November Update from CEO Helen

On 5th November Love Wimbledon goes all Christmassy with the launch of our seasonal campaign on line and in print. We’re working hard on our winter issue of Our Wimbledon Magazine which will be delivered to your business very soon. The Christmas tree returns this year outside the station on November 19th with over 5,000 lights to brighten up our day (and night!). Thank you to Morrisons Solicitors for sponsoring the tree this year.

The NEW Wimbledon masterplan, a vision for 2030 and beyond has been launched by Merton Council. It is really important that the business voice is heard in this consultation and therefore would urge you to attend our jointly hosted business forum on 15th November where Paul McGarry, Head of Future Merton and Love Wimbledon will be eager to hear your opinions.

It’s time to Play Wimbledon. Merton Council with competition winner Lugadero will be hosting two pop-ups to get your feedback on the spaces outside New Wimbledon Theatre and St Marks Place. Business focused design workshops will be held in St Mark’s Place from 11am-2pm on 3 November, and outside Wimbledon Theatre from 11am-2pm on 10 November so come along and bring your ideas.

This month in partnership with The Merton Chamber of Commerce we host two networking events, Love to Lunch and Wimbledon Young Professionals Group so spread the word to your colleagues and do come along.

A note for early next month, this years Winter Wonderland is on Sunday 2nd December so please don’t forget The Broadway will be closed from Queens Road to Hartfield Road and the event runs until 7.30pm this year.
